Seed hopper and fertiliser unit
The volume of the seed hopper is 70 litres. This is enough to plant about two hectares of maize per row unit. The spacious fertiliser hopper holds about 225 litres/ row which means that if applying about 110kg/ha the seed and the fertiliser hopper will be empty at the same time. Both the seed and the fertiliser hopper have large openings in order to make it easy to fill the hoppers.
PTO-fan and alternator
A planter does not require much power if the fields are even. However some smaller tractors do not have the oil-flow to power a fan and to lift the machine at headlands.
Therefore, Tempo is equipped with a PTO which makes sure that tractors also with quite low specifications can pull the machine. The fan is connected to an alternator, thereby the machine is self-sufficient on electrical power.
We care about the details!
Väderstad aim to provide new inventions and reliable products of the highest class that make it easier to achieve good results in crop production. Our parts and accessories are an important part of our total product range and are normally covered by a 12-month guarantee for extra security.
Thousands of farmers around the world can testify that a Väderstad machine stands for high quality and long life. For example, Rapid has been on the market since 1991 and is a well-tested machine. To date, more than 16 000 Rapid machines have been sold, many of which have worked more than 30 000 hectares and are still in service.

Väderstad Genuine Parts give the best field performance, the optimum work outcome and maximum yield.
Development and testing of seed meter
All development has taken place here in our seed lab and all components have been evaluated in the field for several years.
The focus during development of the seed meter was precision and speed with minimal sensitivity for slopes and vibrations. These features give our customers better crops and higher capacity. Of course the high capacity also ensures that you can plant your crops in optimal conditions.
Electronics and display of precision
All seed meters are equipped with a seed sensor. The data from the sensor is displayed on the control station. The operator can have an overview of the function of the machine where bars show the precision on individual rows. It is also possible to see the precision (skips, doubles and coefficient of variation) on the control station.
Since the seed meters use electrical drive it is possible to test and calibrate the seed meters before planting season starts. This can be done by testing rows individually.
Our history
The story of Väderstad-Verken began in 1962 in a barn on the Stark family farm in Väderstad.
Rune and Siw Stark had a 30-hectare farm and just like all the other farmers around they used a ‘planker’ to till the soil. These had always been made of wood and for obvious reasons their durability was limited.
Rune grew tired of making a new wooden rigid tine harrow at the start of every season and put together a durable steel tine harrow made from U-beam instead. It wore very well in the hard clay soil around Väderstad and it wasn’t long before other farmers in the area got in touch and asked Rune to make steel tine harrows for them.
No sooner said than done. Rune set to work manufacturing steel tine harrows at home in his simple farm workshop. That was the humble beginnings of what today is Väderstad-Verken AB.
Oleg Kovtunenko, Ukraine
“We managed to plant almost 130 hectares in one day. And this was done with an 8 row planter. The capacity and the planting quality of the Väderstad Tempo is unbelievable.”
Sergey Doktorov, Ukraine
Far above expectations
Ukrainian farming company “Vidrodzhennja” leases over 2 800 hectare of the real black soil in the most fertile part of Ukraine near Poltava city. The company uses two Carrier 500 for soil cultivation and two Rapid 400C for drilling. Apart from spring barley and winter wheat the Rapid drills have been used for establishing soya beans and silage maize. But now the company has also got acquainted with the new Väderstad Tempo planter when seeding maize and sunflower.
Need for capacity
In spring 2011 the plan was to expand the acreage of both maize and sunflower.
– Thus it was really important to be on track as the demands on our planter increased, farm manager Mr. Sergey Doktorov explains.
The conventional planter at the farm used for the last four years normally drills with a satisfying result, but at a speed no higher than 7–8 km/h. Spring drilling 2011 however turned out to be something completely different.
Novel experience
In April 333 ha of maize and 110 ha of soya were seeded with the new planter Tempo from Väderstad. That turned out to be a novel experience.
– Seeding was done at a surprisingly high speed of 14,8 km/h on average, Mr. Doktorov comments.
One day they managed to drill 121 hectares of maize. But in spite of the high speed the outcome of the seeding operations were very promising. Mr. Doktorov was especially curios how Tempo could cope with precision and accuracy. But he soon found out that Tempo kept its promises. The seed placement was on average 5,2 cm and the variation less than +/- 0,3 cm.
– That result was far above our expectations.
József and Renata Radák, Hungary
József Radák in Hungary established his 270 ha family farm in 1994. The average field size is 24 ha, the average yearly precipitation is 580 mm.
Maize is one the most important crops on the farm, with almost 60 percent of the acreage. For this reason timing and preciseness have high priorities in the spring and for the same reason they bought a new planter in 2010. Almost immediately they first heard about a new Väderstad planter, and one year later they felt lucky to test the machine on their own farm in 2011 to compare it with the 1-year old existing conventional planter.
After the fields had emerged they could see the ”normal Väderstad standards” as they both call it.
– Precise planting distance at high speed and even planting depth. Thanks to the Väderstad feeding system, the accuracy of Tempo is unrivalled.
Now Jószef and Renata Radák have decided to invest in a Tempo planter. With the decision they will be pioneers as they are the first among Hungarian farmers to take that step.
